Float Pond Flying Site
The fload pond is some 1000' in length and 700' wide. The longest direction is almost due north. The GPS coordinates are as follows:
Entrance: 45° 01' 53.37" N
75° 36' 37.11" W
Pond: 45° 01' 34.19" N
75° 36' 06.75" W
Entrance to the facility is by locked gate so it is necessary to arrange a visit with a member of the club. This ensures the security and safety of the flying site. Currently, the Secretary and Treasurer are retired and availale most days.
Flying is to be kept over the pond as much as possible as there is a working pit to the East, a paintball playground to the West and houses some 800' to the South. A life jacket must be worn at all times when using the retrieval canoe. The site is not limited to 2.4 GHz frequencies so a frequency board is in operation for those using other frequencies.
Our site was refurbished on the North end (left side of picture) by the owner to fill in and grade the area so that it is more user friendly. It is a remarkable improvement on the original site and allows for very safe operating conditions. Barry Forbes very generously supplied 4 days of heavy equipment work to make this happen and we are greatly in his debt. The extent of the changes can be seen in the photos at the top of the Float Pond Rules page.
We would love to have you come and visit us!!
